Born in Hollywood and raised in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, Irvin Martinez — known professionally as Funktion Junkie — is a first-generation Guatemalan-American artist and producer with roots deeply influenced by the diverse sounds of his upbringing. From 90s hip-hop and gangsta rap, to alternative, grunge, and spanish-pop music echoing through his childhood home; his style embodies a raw, unconventional edge that breaks the mold.

For Irvin, music isn’t just a career — it’s a lifeline.
After overcoming personal battles and finding strength in his children and his art, he’s dedicated his life to helping other artists bring their visions to reality. His production style embraces the weird, the imperfect, and the unapologetically different. Heavy kicks, dry snares, and natural hi-hats are staples in his sound, a deliberate rebellion against trends. Whether it’s one track or a full project, his mission is to translate what’s in an artist's head into a polished, authentic final product.
